Pythium ultimum var ultimum Whole Genome Sequence Data Access

We are making the draft genome sequence of Pythium ultimum var ultimum BR144 available to community prior to publication with the expectation that the community will NOT encroach on our efforts to analyze and publish a whole genome analysis of P. ultimum. Thus, by accepting the terms of this agreement and accessing the associated draft genome sequence data, you are agreeing not to publish whole-genome scale analyses of the P. ultimum BR144 genome, analyses of gene families/genome structures/repetitive sequences, comparative analyses with other organisms including other oomycete genomes, or other analyses such that they encroach and limit our opportunity to publish the findings of our work.

We will be inviting in 2008, members of the community to participate in an annotation jamboree with P. ultimum and those individuals that wish to analyze the data and participate in a community effort should contact the Project Director (buell “at” msu.edu) for more information. The tentative date for the annotation jamboree is early 2009.

We are making the P. ultimum var ultimum BR144 genome sequence available through an early release. The genome assemblies have not been thoroughly examined or reviewed and thus may contain errors and should be considered preliminary. Thus, the user should verify or validate any sequence that they suspect may be in error. The data may be downloaded and used by those who agree to these terms of release. It should not be further re-distributed or publicly released. If the data are used in a publication, it should be cited as “Whole genome sequence data for P. ultimum BR144 was obtained from the Pythium ultimum Genome Sequencing Project funded by the U. S. Department of Agriculture Cooperative State Research, Education and Extension Service.”

The Pythium ultimum Whole Genome Sequencing was supported by the National Research Initiative of the USDA Cooperative State Research, Education and Extension Service, grant number 2007-35600-17774 and 2007-35600-18886.
